Layne Scheveck

Where did you grow up?

I grew up right here, in Billings, Montana. I went to Castle Rock Middle School and graduated from Skyview High School.

Where did you go to college?

I went to Dakota Wesleyan University as a dual-sport athlete, playing Football and Track. After DWU, I moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan and graduated from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, at Western Michigan University.

When you were 5, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a Sports Agent, just like Jerry Maguire.

Why did you decide to get into legal work?

I was in business law in college, which I didn't particularly like, however the professor asked me to intern at his law firm (I needed an internship to graduate). Halfway through my internship, I naturally gravitated towards Personal Injury Law, and helping people within my community.

What is your primary area of practice?

I specialize in Personal Injury and Family Law, while continuing to practice some Criminal Law, to keep my teeth sharp.

What is the most rewarding part of this work?

It’s the knowledge you gain along the way and being able to use that knowledge. Every day, I learn something new, and that is what I really enjoy. With that knowledge, it’s rewarding to be able to use information to help your community.

What are some of your hobbies outside of work?

I enjoy the outdoors like most people, but I really enjoy motorcycle riding and snowmobiling.

If you were a superhero, what would your superpower be?

I am big Superman fan, dating all away back to when I watched the Superman cartoons from the 1940s at my Grandparent’s house. I would love to have the power of flight, super hearing and shooting lasers!
